Leighton Broadcasting is a majority employee-owned company in the broadcasting industry headquartered in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Leighton Broadcasting traces its roots to owner and founder Al Leighton's purchase of KDLM AM in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota in 1963. In 2007, second generation, family leadership emerged with Bob Leighton, Al and Jean Leighton’s son, taking over the company as visionary and CEO. Under Bob’s leadership Leighton Broadcasting has continued to expand and diversify including the addition of new divisions and the acquisition of radio stations throughout Minnesota.Leighton Broadcasting became employee-owned in 1987 when it established it's Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP).  Leighton Broadcasting is more than just a business with profit margins, operation goals, and a bottom line.  Each piece of the puzzle that makes up our company started small, with a talented staff, and grew through hard work and determination.
