Woodman's
Woodman’s Markets is an employee-owned retail grocer headquartered in Janesville, Wisconsin. The grocer got its start as a produce stand that John Woodman opened in 1919. Woodman’s has experienced exponential growth over its 100-plus year history. Today, there are 19 Woodman’s Markets throughout Wisconsin and northern Illinois. On average, their stores are 400 times larger than their original store. This allows Woodman’s to provide an extensive selection of grocery items at the best prices. In 1998, Woodman’s Markets became employee-owned when it established its Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). As an employee-owned retail grocery chain, Woodman’s stands apart from major corporate supermarkets and large retail chains. The company places its trust in its employees and values their creative suggestions to propel its growth. When the company is successful, employee owners benefit, as do their local communities. This uniquely motivates them to provide an exceptional customer experience every day.
